Meet Val
I have over 10 years experience in education and 6+ years supporting student development as a Student Affairs Professional in Higher Education. In my full-time role, I offer advising and college transition navigation to prospective students (grades 8-12 and undergraduates), and leverage my institutional networks to enhance their university experiences.
Born and raised in South Texas, I’ve lived and worked at campuses across U.S. coastal regions and have colleagues at a range of institution types. I hold a B.A. in Sociology/Anthropology and an M.Ed in Curriculum & Instruction specializing in Multicultural Education.
My goal in this work is to create pathways to higher education for multiply marginalized and historically disenfranchised students and their families. Students of color, first generation, migrants/immigrants, 2SLGBTQ+, disabled, and economically precarious folks are especially encouraged to connect with me.
I’d love to help guide you in your college journey.
See how you can work with me to steer your next steps.
